The ring has been named Julevädno - Luleälv as a symbol of all the important things that our river has been and how important it became - above all as a memory of the magic of the free river - its power and eternal movement.

Luleälv has parts of its sources in Sulitelma on the border with Norway and flows into the Gulf of Bothnia. On its journey from the mountains in the west to the sea in the east, the river passes both mountains and forests. Magnificent landscapes, over expanses and deep forests, past where people have lived in harmony with its rhythm. On its journey, the Little and Big Luleälv unite - two forces that together shape the water that has shaped us for centuries. In modern times, the river has been expanded to account for a large part of our country's energy production.
