The card game Älska Snö (Love Snow)


It is said that every snowflake is unique and geometrically speaking, it is almost true.

Although recently some researchers found two completely identical snowflakes and proved that the thesis that all snowflakes are completely unique is a myth.

It all starts in the upper layers of the air.

Water vapor cools down at sub-zero temperatures and condenses into fine ice crystals like needles and prisms.

The ice crystals stick to each other until they become so heavy that they fall as snow.

Together they form a snowflake that begins to swirl downwards.

The game has 100 cards with ten unique snowflakes and during the game you must find the twins of three pairs of snowflakes first.

RULES

The game is about collecting pairs of identical snowflakes.

There are 10 unique snowflakes but you must collect (at most) three of these. There are 10 cards (copies) of each unique snowflake in the deck.

The game begins with the dealer placing three cards in front of each player (the unique snowflake facing up). These cards constitute the instructions for which pairs of snowflakes

respective players should collect. It may happen that two or more of the cards in the “instruction” for a player are identical and the player should then collect more than one pair of this snowflake. The instruction cards do not count in the respective pair.

The dealer then deals a “hand” of three cards to each player (the unique snowflake facing down towards the table).

If any player gets a pair directly in their hand that matches one of the instruction cards, the player shows the pair to the other players and then turns the pair and the instruction card over. The player then gets to pick up two new cards from the pile. The game begins with the player to the left of the dealer picking up a card from the pile and then “playing” a card onto the table.

The player closest to the left then gets to choose to pick up this card or to get a card from the pile instead. This player then plays a card onto the table, etc.

If a player gets a pair by taking a card from the previous player or from the pile, the player can turn over the pair and take two new cards from the pile.

The game is decided when a player gets a pair according to all three instruction cards or when the cards in the pile run out.

In the latter case, the player with the most pairs wins.
